Now that we have the basics down, there is still much the ole veteran can learn. The cool thing about Neopets is the longer we are here, the finer our skills develop and the more adventures open up for us. This is a place that is constantly changing and so much to do on a daily basis. It never gets boring and never gets old. Here are a few things beyond the basics that the ole veteran that has been around long enough to have a tight grip on the neopian reigns, can do.

Hunt the Auctions  There are some great finds there. Just sit and watch what comes thru, you can really find some very incredible items at prices that are amazing. You have to be quick as these items go very fast. You can later resell these items in your shop. Make a profit.

Trading Posts - great for those hard to find items. You can also find items at great prices. Here Neopians are willing to haggle a bit, but be aware of the current market value for the item of interest. Look at other trades before making an offer. Be wise and use the trading post to your benefit. Haggle over a very wanted item. BE WISE! Know the value of items. I say that again as there are scammers everywhere and even in the trading post there are those that will try and take advantage of you.. newbie or not. Most likely they will get frozen, but its a possibility you won't get your item or nps back. BE CAREFUL ALWAYS!!! It will prove to pay off in the end. A good trade can bring you profit. Use your neomail to contact seller and perhaps negotiate. Also never trade outside the trading post. Those that try and talk you into it are up to no good. It's usually a trick to steal your items.

Shop Wizard is your friend. I tend to  search an item several times before committing to buy. The shop wizard has a funky way of displaying the items your searching for.  It's done based on an random alpha order and not on a cheaper price first order. So several searches may reveal a cheaper alternative to your original search. If your using the Super Shop Wizard in premium, this is not necessary. You will always get the cheapest price listed first. Too many searches here and you will tired the wizard out and be block from further searches. Trust me I know from personal experience. *whistles*

TROPHIES: You can obtain these in many ways. Through Contests. Through Games. For your Pets and PetPets. Check out the list of other competitions running here. . All games reset on the 1st of the month. So go get that trophy you have longed for. I have included some trophy and games guides on the main page of my site. Check under the Games & Trophy section. AVATARS: These are the fun pictures icons you can use in your posts while you talk to other Neopians on the Chat Boards. There is even an entire board dedicated to collecting these little suckers. They are also displayed in your neomails as you write your friends and on your user lookups. These can be a way to display your personality, your favorite game, pet, petpet or neopian character. You can see your current collection of avatars available for use here. The ones below the break line are called Secret Avatars and are the ones you have to unlock to earn. This is one of my favorite things to do in Neopia. You can get a complete list of them here wonderfully provided by Nothing But Neopets.

PET CARE AND STYLE  Be good to your pet. Play with them and remember to feed them often. Your pet will be with you during your many adventures in Neopia. They will aide you in companionship on those long, dark and lonely nights. There is a lot you can do in keeping your pet rewarded and happy. You should get your pet a petpet.  They love that. Mine like to play tricks on me. The little rascals. Perhaps a stay at the Neolodge. You can paint both your Neopet and your petpet magical and wonderful styles and colors. Buy the petpet and brushes using your shop wizard, trading post or auctions. Have Fun!!

Making Friends: So many ways you can make friends. You can add other members as neofriends and exchange neomail back and forth. You can also find several members 24/7 on the NeoBoards. Once in awhile you may try to add someone as a friend that refuses your request. Do not take it personal. Just try and be understanding and move on. You never know what struggles or experiences they have encountered. Lastly, there is also the guilds. Great way to join a special group of people that work together to get thru the many adventures you will encounter.

Plots: Several times a year there are the events called event plots. They can often come in the form of  a war, where you will use your pet to battle varies villains in enabling yourself to move onto the next challenger or level. Sometimes these plots are elaborate puzzles your must figure out each step to move on. You may do them alone or a group of plot participants will have to work together to accomplish the task. They can even be very short puzzle/war combo plots. Some are very long and difficult and some are very easy. Either way there is always a Neoboard dedicated to such events so we can all help each other advance. Most often you will receive prizes, neopoints,  rare avatars and even a trophy for your participation. Its great fun!!!! I always participate and have a section on my site dedicated to each plot.

Pet Advancement: In order to battle your pet successfully, you must train your pet. You can enter your pet into training school. Schools available are Cap'n Threelegs' Swashbuckling Academy and Mystery Island Training School.. You can also be rewarded levels, agility, strength and intelligence thru Coltzans. Also, if you are given a fairy quest by one of the varies neopian fairies and complete the quest, they can reward you with special abilities that are useful during a battle. Even more important than the advancement of your pet, are the weapons it uses. Here is a great site IDB, that explains all about that.

Lastly, be a penny pincher and follow the newbie rules! Be good to each other and be good to your pets. Neopia can be such a wonderful place to visit, but even with all its beauty, evil is always right around the corner. Watch out for the dark ones... They are never far away looking to make your journey a challenge.
